Venice or Bust

Guten tag.

I am currently sitting alone in an airport in Munich.  It is fairly quiet save for the clinking of dishes at the café next door as they clean up after the lunch rush and the Frenchman sitting behind me talking loudly on his cell about business things.  (That's what I'm guessing as I keep hearing the words 'travail," which means work, and 'marketing,' which I'm guessing means marketing.)  A slew of flights just boarded, and I am now left with only a handful of people to entertain me for the next four hours as I wait for my flight.  Not two seconds after stepping off my flight from Chicago my eyes started welling up with tears and I felt homesick.  Only 33 more days left...

For those of you who don't know, I am embarking on a study abroad trip to Italy.  I will be studying printmaking, bookmaking, and the art of mobile typesetting.  During this three week program I will be traveling between Venice, Florence, and a little mountain town called Cornuda.  In my free time I will absolutely be embracing the starry-eyed American tourist within and seeing everything there is to see.   (Probably not, as there's a whole country filled with beautiful things and I have limited time to see it.  But I sure as heck can try.)

After my program is done I'm going to be hopping on the next flight to Paris where I shall meet my dear mother and spend 10 days exploring the city.  Oh, my heart can can hardly handle the excitement.

Anyways, I'm going to try to blog as often as possible to keep everyone who cares posted about my adventures.  I must go now so I can tune into the Frenchman's conversation.  It's getting interesting.

Arrivederci, mio amici!
