Château de Versailles

As you may have been made aware from the title of this post , today we explored the beautiful Palace of Versailles.  My mother and I mutually agreed that guided tours are stupid and outdoors is better than indoors, so we skipped seeing the inside of the palace itself and stuck to exploring the miles of gardens that occupy the palace'a property.  It was such a beautiful day to galavant outside.

Apparently these are painted in real gold......yah.....
.

Mom trying to orient herself, and me waiting patiently.

Me becoming bored and resorting to taking what the kids nowadays call "selfies..." Uh oh...

Bassin de Neptune.

Here, fishy fishy.

Cupid riding a sea dragon...?

Endless avenues of shrubbery.

Free bubblegum!  YAY!!!

Le Grande Canal.

We're sweaty.

Ducks.

Model.

Ouch...

A restricted orange orchard.

Kind of impressive...

The only bummer of the day was that some of the trains were closed because of a union strike, and we were stuck for a minute.  But we made it home, had a delicious dinner with friends, and enjoyed a night time walk around the city.  Man, oh, man, is Paris in the summertime delightful.

Bonnie nuit, mes amis!
